Love it!

Pros:
Easy to Use, Easy to Install
Cons:
Plastic knobs
Best Uses:
All bikes
We got this right before vacation to go on our 2012 Honda Pilot. We brought 2 mountain bikes (men's and women's), a 10 speed racing bike, and a little baby bike with training wheels. They all fit great with no problems. The rack adjusts to any size bike with ease. The only think I don't like about it is the plastic knobs. They are hard to tighten and loosen. I feel a metal knob would improve the product a lot. Other than that everything was easy to use and quick to load and unload bikes. Bike did not move around and were tightly fastened. The rack folds upward when no bikes are on so it doesn't stick out so much. I would recommend this product. Worth the money. Sorry I forgot to take an image when the bikes were loaded.

Like MyOther 2 Saris Racks, This One is Top-Not

Pros:
Durable, Easy to Use, Easy to Install, Stable
Cons:
Best Uses:
Large Cars
This is the 3d Saris rack I've owned, and, like the others, it's great! Sturdy, simple to install, simple to use -- if the rack is on my car, I can have 4 bikes ready in less than 10 minutes. You do have to set it up for the bikes you are carrying - adjust the wheel holders and vertical supports, but as long as you carry the same bike(s) each time, all you need to do is lift the bike into place and strap in - no effort, little time. The bikes ride steady and stable. My only negative on the rack probably cannot be avoided - it is a little heavy and I live on the 2d floor, so must hump it down whenever I go someplace with my bikes. But, on the other hand, it probably could not be as steady or stable if it were not so heavy duty. There is little to maintain or tighten to ensure continued utility. I can't say enough and, given the opportunity, extol my rack's virtues constantly. Only 2 days ago another rider observed me taking our bikes off the rack and, impressed by the ease, gave me the opportunity to plug my Saris rack and Saris' great customer support.

Top notch bike rack - very solid

Pros:
Stable, Easy to Install, Durable, Easy to Use
Cons:
Best Uses:
Mountain Bikes, Road Bikes, Large Cars
Suer stable 4 bike rack. Really easy to adjust to fit any bike frame. I have a 29inch mens mountain bike, a 20 inch girls bike, a womens hybrid bike, and a 24 inch girls bike on mine right now. It fits all shapes. This is way easier and less noisy going down the road than my previous 4 bike rack that hangs all from the frame.

Sturdy and well made

Pros:
Easy to Use, Stable, Easy to Install, Durable
Cons:
A washer on the mounting post broke
Best Uses:
Mountain Bikes, Large Cars, Road Bikes
This is the sturdiest rack I have seen for 4 bikes. It is simple, strong, and durable. It provides the perfect amount of adjustability to accommodate all different bike types and sizes. Rating would have been 5 stars but one of the washers on the posts broke as I was tightening it during installation.

This rack has handled everything we've thrown at it

Pros:
Well built, Easy to set up, Made in the USA (WI), Lifetime warranty
Cons:
Heavy
Best Uses:
Child's bike, Road bike, Mountain bike
After YEARS of using racks from one of the big two (one rhymes with Tool and the other with, uh, Rackima?), and being somewhat disappointed, we decided to try something different. We were unfamiliar with the Saris brand and a little hesitant at first. After doing research and finding a whole mess of positive, we decided to give the Freedom 4 a try. The rack comes roughly 70% assembled and only requires the two cross bars and two uprights be bolted to the main beam. Fifteen to twenty minutes tops. As easy as assembly was, initial bike setup took considerably longer. Its not difficult, it just takes time to make sure all your bikes are where they should be. Once this is done, they can be put on and taken off the rack in a couple minutes (makes pre and post ride ridiculously easy).

really happy with this rack

Pros:
Easy to Use, Durable, Stable
Cons:
Best Uses:
Road Bikes, Mountain Bikes
I had a two bike rack from saris until my children's bikes no longer fit in the trunk. I now have the four bike rack and am just as pleased. Well made and stable. I would, and do, recommend them to anyone willing to listen to me.

I would improve upon this product before I could recommend

Pros:
Cons:
Unstable, Weak Construction, bikes bounce around, especially on dirt roads, not stable in 2" hitch receiver, incredibly bulky, Bikes ride loosely
Best Uses:
Tighten this unit up so that it fits ALOT better inside the 2" receiver hitch. Too much play - even with their special part that is very hard to come by if you lose the first one... The minute you hit dirt; it bounces all around and the bikes become very loose in their saddles.

good when not broken, beware of particular breaking point

Pros:
Lightweight, Easy to Use
Cons:
Design flaws create weak points
Best Uses:
Mountain Bikes
I have had my freedom 2-bike for a little over a year now, and I want to say that I really like it. It's worked well, I can open my hitch with it on (and no bikes loaded) which is why I wanted this model, and it overall gets the job done. I've used it a fair amount over the past year, and on it's most recent voyage something happenned that is causing me to rate this lower than I would like to. On the inside of the square tubing that goes into your hitch receiver there is a nut kinda maybe welded on. This is what allows the bolt to thread into it and secure very nicely to your hitch. On the last trip I went on (washboard dirt roads), that nut broke free from whatever was securing it to the inside of the tubing. Unfortunately what this meant was that I had no way to un-thread the bold, and consequently could not remove the rack from the car. It does appear that somewhere along the jostling the bold had cross threaded as well, whether that was my doing or the rocking back and forth of the rack once the nut broke free. I had to do quite a bit of surgery to remove the bolt without damaging either the hitch receiver on my car or the bike rack itself. 6 hours later, alot of blood and sweat, mission accomplished. I really like this rack, and I like how (when it's functional) it secures itself against your hitch receiver for stability, but the way it's designed creates some pretty ridiculous issues that are causing me to question if I want to try to repair this at all now, or if I just want to scrap it and find a new rack. overall, a little disappointed saris :(

Love this rack

Pros:
Cons:
Best Uses:
I looked around for a while to find the best rack and deal for a hitch mount tray style rack. Love the light weight of this rack and the ability to fit all different size bikes on it. It works great with my carbon road bike and my kids 20" bike. It works great and is easy to setup. The tilt feature works awesome. On a recent trip everyone was jealous of the ease of loading the bikes and the stability once the bikes are loaded. My wife especially likes it as it's much easier to load than a roof style rack and and she no longer has to set things in front of the garage so she doesn't pull in with the bikes on top. Also as a follow up I just received a hand written note in the mail from customer service with a business card and some stickers. Haven't had to use customer service but it was a plus to see how accessible they are.

Luv This Rack!

Pros:
Cons:
Best Uses:
This rack is as good as it gets! It is easy to load/unload, and (when the bikes are not loaded) allows easy access through our SUVs rear hatch. And while it allows easy access while attached, it is light-weight enough to easily remove when not needed. We love it!

Wonderful

Pros:
Cons:
Best Uses:
Bought this unit almost a year ago and used it almost daily until winter arrived. Bought it so we could take Grandchildren riding with us. For a 4 bike rack it is considerably lighter than other racks and very stable. Would like to see a revised hitch bolt setup. This threaded piece only just sits in the hitch throat and will slide out of place if tilted a little. I installed a set screw on the rack to keep the adapter in place until the hitch bolt was installed. Makes life and installing eqsier.

Excellent Bike Carrier & Easy to use

Pros:
Cons:
Best Uses:
We purchased brand new bikes and were looking for a rack that would fit 4 bikes without worrying about scratches etc. This rack holds our bikes securely and doesn't scratch them. We can use in our vehicle hitch or in a receiver on our camper. This one is great!

Best Uses:
I am a petite lady with a number of kids and adult bikes that need dragging around to trails and bike parks. I used it yesterday with a mix of the two different bike types and it worked great! Easy to get on the car, bikes went on and off easily. I do think it should have locks included. The price was good too!

Sturdy.Sturdy.Sturdy.

Pros:
Cons:
Best Uses:
We did a lot of research before purchasing this rack. Loading the bikes is very easy and when traveling they are very stable, very little to no movement at all which is what I wanted. The nice thing is that when bikes are offloaded and rack is folded up I still have plenty of room to fit the car in the garage. Nice feature because it makes it easy to go fir a quick trip to the greenway anytime.Purchased the lock set as well. Love the rack!Great product.

Family of four, have bikes, will travel

Pros:
Cons:
Best Uses:
Bought this Freedom 4 last summer along with four new bikes for the whole family. No more excuses. Get out there. We've done a few day trips, leisure rides and some off road trails last year. Looking forward to getting out there again, maybe next weekend. Snow finally all gone. Our Saris bike rack has made it all possible. It is a little heavy but very solid and holds our 4 adult bikes. (Parents and two teenagers) It did take a few tries to configure the bikes to sit without touching and now with the new season starting, remembering the correct order, but once I got it I was able to get them on in ten to fifteen minutes and that includes getting the bike rack on the truck. But don't rush. check and double check everything. You don't want to miss a locking pin or strap. It was very convenient to be able to recline the rack and get into the back of our truck without taking the bikes off. Don't get me wrong, it is heavy fully loaded. You may need some help to get it back up. But that's what family is for. I bought a 15 ft. bike cable to secure all tires and frames to the rack and the trailer hitch and a locking pin for the hitch so we can leave the truck and enjoy a walk around town or a meal together. The kids are asking when we can hit the road again. Thanks Saris

Easiest rack system I have used.

Pros:
Cons:
Best Uses:
I bought my freedom 4 the spring of 2014. I loved how easy it was to assemble though a few words rather than smiley faces and sad faces would have been helpful.I had no problem setting it up for my bike or any of the multiple times I loaded 3 other friends bikes on it. It works great for our road bikes, mountain bikes and kids bikes.I have never had another rack that I could put three different types of bikes on without a problem. All of this without help from my husband.

Easy to use and very secure!

Pros:
Cons:
Best Uses:
I thought configuring my family's bikes would be difficult but the adjustment features on this rack made it a breeze. We have four bikes ranging from 24" child size to large adult. They all fit very securely, I can cruise down the freeway or (carefully) off the (slightly) beaten path and not worry about the safety of my bikes. The profile is surpisingly short given the load it carries, I haven't had any issues with parking or reversing.
